I just finished the book, “East German Girl”. I read it in about 3 hours! I didn’t want to put it down because I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next. I experienced a lot of different emotions while reading it. It made me sad, angry, inspired and grateful all at the same time. I couldn’t imagine going through what she went through. I thought I had a rough childhood. It really made me appreciate what I have and what I was able to provide for my children but it also made me more aware of the suffering that is all around us that we try to ignore. I also thought it was kind of neat that Sigrid went back to Germany in 1981 because I was there then. I also thought it was neat that one of the first places she went to in the states was my hometown of Evansville, IN. It’s certainly a small world.
